OUR MISSION
The mission of the Worcester County Arts Council is to aid, encourage, advise and correlate all activities dedicated to the promotion of the arts in Worcester County, as may be found feasible; to integrate such activities into the total life of the communities served by the council.

General Information
The Worcester County Arts Council is a non-profit organization, funded in part through grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and contributions from our membership of approximately 300.

In 2011 FY, despite many economic challenges that we faced, over $21,000 was awarded for musical, performing and/or visual art events through the WCAC Community Arts Development Grant program. Six $1000 each art scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors who will continue their education in Arts. The Arts Council also provided $2000 to sponor art performances and workshops for students at the local Worcester County schools thru the Artists in Education program.

Eleven exhibits at the Arts Council Gallery in Berlin included paintings, photography, jewelry, and mixed media, by local artists from the Eastern Shore.
"The practice of art isn't to make a living. It's to make your soul grow."
- Kurt Vonnegut
Art is an essential part of life. The release and enjoyment art provides enriches not only the life of the artist, but the lives of those who come in contact with his creation.

A community without art not only lacks entertainment, but also spirit; for art is the gateway to the soul.

We at the Worcester County Arts Council believe that communities benefit from art.

Our purpose and goal at the Council is to enrich the lives of those in our community by promoting and encouraging the arts.
Maryland State Arts Council
The Worcester County Arts Council is funded by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business & Economic Development, the MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to non profit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities.

Funding for the Maryland State Arts Council is also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
