Community Arts Development Grants Awarded
The Worcester County Arts Council is proud to award $9,950 in Community Arts Development Grants program to 9 art projects and events to be presented by local nonprofit arts organizations during the 6 month granting cycle beginning January 1, 2014.
Funding will support a wide variety of creative and innovative projects that are of outstanding artistic quality and demonstrate community benefit enhancing the lives of everyone living and visiting the Worcester County.

MURAL PAINTING - “MY BERLIN WALL”
APRIL 5, 12, 26; MAY 3, 17, 24, 31 (7 sessions). 10 am - 12:30 pm.
Instructor: Dr. Marina Borovok
Fee: $210 (all supplies & materials included).
Release your inner artist, learn new skills, and contribute to beautification of the America's Coolest Small Town!
This studio art course will introduce you to the theory and practice of large-scale painting and murals. Participants will explore the techniques and methods of mural creating process from development to completion of the actual mural to be painted on the property of the Worcester County Arts Council.
During this course, participants will gain the knowledge of large-scale painting and experience of collaborative creative work on mural implementation.
NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NEEDED. ADVANCED REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

FUNDAMENTALS IN DRAWING
MAY 12 & 19; 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Instructor: David Simpson
Fee: $60 (Members), $70 (Non-Members). Payable in advance.
This educational drawing class is designed for adults who want to have fun with art, begin learning how to draw, or brush up on their current drawing ability. Students will learn to analyze subject matter, utilize different drawing techniques, and “build up” a drawing to bring it all together. We will work from still life and do multiple styles of drawing in pencil. The class will include demonstrations and critiques. You may bring your own drawing materials (B pencils, erasers, sketch book/paper), otherwise notify the instructor.

WATERCOLOR PAINTING
JUNE 2 & 4; 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Fee: $80 (Members), $100 (Non-Members). Payable in advance. One day enrollment: $40 (optional).
This adult class will focus on opening artists to the world of color via watercolor painting. No painting experience necessary, just a passion to learn and enjoy is required. Students will learn to mix colors, maintain a palette, analyze subject matter, utilize different painting techniques, and create layers to bring a painting together. The class will include demonstrations and critiques.
This is a class for anyone who is interested in having fun, trying out watercolor paints for the first time, or furthering their experience with watercolor paints more. Painters will create a painting of a landscape from a 2-D reference (photograph) or do a still life painting. Beginner Watercolor Material List

Masterworks of the Barnes Foundation

Between 1912 and 1951, Dr. Albert C. Barnes (1872-1951) established one of the world’s most important holdings of post-impressionist and early modern paintings.

Works of Cezanne, Demuth, Gauguin, Glackens, van Gogh, Matisse, Modigliani, Picasso, Prendergast, Renoir, Soutine and other artists will be reviewed and analyzed.
