OUR MISSION

The mission of the Worcester County Arts Council is to aid, encourage, advise, and correlate all activities dedicated to the promotion of the arts in Worcester County, as may be found feasible, and to integrate such activities into the total life of the communities served by the Council.

The Worcester County Arts Council is funded by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business & Economic Development, the MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to non profit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities.

Funding for the Maryland State Arts Council is also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

General Information
The Worcester County Arts Council is a non-profit organization, funded in part through grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and contributions from our membership of approximately 300.
Due to a series of economic setbacks, for the last decade or so, many non-profit organizations have had to fight for their survival. The Arts Council is no exception. At the same time, our mission remains intact while our programs continue to grow, and as a result, so do the Arts in Worcester County. So, to all of our Sponsors, Supporters, and Volunteers who make up the heart and soul of our organization - Thank you!

As a result of our members and sponsors loyalty and support, in 2018 FY alone, a total of 35,000 was awarded for musical, performing and visual art events through the WCAC Community Arts Development Grant program. Also,$7,000 in scholarships was awarded to graduating seniors and art majors who will continue to further their education in an arts program. The Arts Council also provided $4,500 to support Worcester County schools thru the Artists in Education program.

The Arts Council Gallery in Berlin houses a motley collection of artwork by local artists. Our display, contained in eleven exhibits, includes paintings, photography, ceramic and glass sculpture, handcrafted jewelry, fiber art, and various mixed media. We encourage everyone to stop by and check out a magnificent showcase of local artistry.

As we move forward, we pledge to continue our work and we stay committed to our mission. It is gratifying to look back over the past year and see the progress we have made. Our successes would not be possible without you - our sponsors, donors, patrons and members - please know that is your unwavering support that helps us foster the arts and greater appreciation for the arts in our Community.
We look forward to the continuation of working alongside other's in building a strong foundation for the Arts in Worcester County, and most of all, watching our Community flourish because of it.
