LOCAL ART ORGANIZATIONS
Bishop’s Stock Fine Art, Craft & Wine is located in Snow Hill, Maryland, one of the quaintest towns in the Mid-Atlantic. Bishop’s Stock represents over 30 established and emerging artists from Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Ed Challenger, Scot Dolby, Lois Engberg, Lynne Lockhart, Kirk McBride, Lynda Ohotnicky, Deborah Rolig, Maurice Spector, Stan Sperlak and Nancy West are among our artists. A broad spectrum of 2-dimensional work is presented in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and mixed media. Artists shown at Bishop’s Stock include the finest contemporary impressionists, realists and abstract painters. The gallery’s three-dimensional work includes sculpture, clay work, wood and wearable art- fiber and jewelry.
Calvin B. Taylor House Museum
A carefully restored early nineteenth century house, located in Berlin’s National Register Historic District, the main block of the house has been furnished as a house museum and the west wing as a gallery displaying local memorabilia. Come and enjoy our shady lawn, historic rooms and fascinating displays. While you are in Berlin, tour our turn of the century commercial district and stroll by some of our many gracious federal era homes.
The Furnace Town Foundation
The Furnace Town provides community and educational programming, sharing the lore of those who worked in service of the Nassawango Iron Furnace, and lived in the Pocomoke Forest. We steward and interpret the Village of historic buildings, and their collections, to provide connections to and understanding of the past and the natural world.
Julia A. Purnell Museum
The museum offers exhibits interpreting many aspects of Worcester County’s history. A time-line parallels the history of the County with that of the nation as a whole. The People of the Pocomoke exhibit informs visitors about the history of regional Native Americans. A “general merchandise” store exhibit welcomes guests back to a time when the community was built around the local general store.
Lower Shore Performing Arts Company
Vision: We are committed to expanding the arts on the lower eastern shore through advocacy, education leadership, and providing artistic opportunities
Mission: To promote and develop a community that values the arts, through theatrical productions, community outreach, economic development, sound stewardship, and providing educational opportunities to strengthen the appreciation of the arts.
Mar-Va Theater Performing Arts Center
Once used as a vaudeville theater complete with stage facilities, dressing rooms and orchestra pits, the Mar-Va was played by many famous performers which included some old-time cowboys such as Tom Mix and Roy Rogers. It was a movie theater till it closed in 1993. Now it is under renovation with plans to become a showcase for local performing arts.
Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra One of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra’s missions is to introduce the wonderful world of instrumental music to students. By offering these programs, the MSO hopes to inspire students to develop or continue their interest in symphonic music. The MSO supports various programs of benefit to students in Worcester County Public Schools in MD.
Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum
The museum features artifacts from Ocean City's early days. Shipwrecks, life-saving and rescues, Ocean City history, marine aquariums, children’s discovery room, and more are featured at The Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum.
Ocean City Center for the Arts
This two-story, nonprofit art center features a Gallery, a pottery studio, art library and a rotating exposition of regional artists. On the first Friday evening of every month, the gallery hosts receptions open to the public.
