STUDENTS’ ARTWORK

ON DISPLAY: MARCH 1 - 31

In celebration of Youth Art Month, observed nationally in March, we are pleased to showcase a vibrant selection of artwork created by Cedar Chapel Special School students as part of their "I 💗 Poetry - Anthology of Free Verse" project.

CCSS Poets are using the Expanding Expression Tool (EET 🟢🔵👁️🟤💗❤⚪️❓) to grow language through the creative process of art.

EET, created by Sarah L. Smith is a systematic and multi-sensory approach designed to enhance expressive language skills, particularly for individuals who struggle with organizing and expressing their thoughts.

By prompting individuals to use the color-coded bead system, EET aims to improve the ability to provide detailed and comprehensive descriptions. The hands-on physical prompt helps create a visually structured framework, making it easier for individuals to organize their thoughts and communicate more effectively.

Each bead represents a specific question that provides detailed descriptions and expanded expressions.

YOUTH ART MONTH is a tribute to teachers who inspire their students to explore new avenues of creative expression.

During the months of March and April, the Worcester County Arts Council is pleased to present "Peace,” an exhibit featuring all media entries submitted by emerging and established artists for the juried art competition.

Artwork for the competition will be reviewed and judged by local artist, art educator, and Arts Council Board Member, KATE CASHMAN.

The goal of this competition was to challenge creatives to delve into the multifaceted concept of peace and bring it to life through their unique artistic vision.

Peace is a universal ideal, yet its meaning varies deeply from person to person. Through this competition, artists were encouraged to interpret peace in ways that resonate with them - whether it's the quiet stillness of nature, the resilience of communities coming together, or the personal pursuit of balance and healing.

The exhibit features 13 artists and 21 entries that display the personal and creative interpretation of emotional, spiritual, and societal dimensions of Peace.

Join us for the opening reception of this exhibit to be held on

Friday, March 14th, from 4 pm - 6 pm.

Winners will be announced at 5 pm that evening.

Come meet the artists and enjoy complimentary refreshments!

The exhibit will be on display from March 1 - April 27, 2025.
