Photography, Mixed Media

BIOGRAPHY:

Clytie experiments by creating series of different pieces with common themes. She has utilized varied combinations of photography or mixed media to create each series.

She received her BA at Penn State and MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art [MICA]. Clytie was a visual and performing arts teacher in Wicomico county public school system. In addition, she has taught printmaking at the Maryland Summer Center for the Arts and from Fall 2001 thru Spring 2008 taught art (design, printmaking, and drawing) at Salisbury University. She is a member of The Salisbury Book Artists and a charter member of The Artists’ Co-Op (disbanded in 2011).

Clytie is an artist and teacher. She has presented at two National Art Education Conferences and given workshop presentations at Maryland Art Education Association Conferences. In addition, she was selected to represent Maryland art teachers at the 50th Anniversary of the National Gallery of Art.

Her work has been included in juried shows at the Government House and Circle Gallery in Annapolis, the Contemporary Museum and the Courtyard Gallery in Baltimore, Macy Gallery at Columbia Teachers College, Arthur Ross Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania, The University of Virginia, Art Institute and Gallery, Art League of Ocean City, and with the Maryland Printmakers.

She has participated in numerous invitation shows including Celebrate 2000 in Easton, Maryland. Clytie had a one person show, Shadow Play, in the Atrium Gallery at Salisbury University. Her image, Mindscape 1,appears in Art and Healing…Using Expressive Art to Heal the Body, Mind and Spirit by Barbara Ganin (New York, 1999). In 2017, she was inducted into the Cornerstone Society of MICA.

Clytie and her husband reside in Salisbury, Maryland.
