Doris Glovier

Worcester County Arts Council Board of Directors - Director

Doris Glovier Worcester County Arts Council Board of Directors - Director Mrs. Doris Glovier studied at Wor-Wic Community College and Salisbury University. She owned and operated Country Blossoms, a floral shop with an arts and crafts department. During her career, she was the office manager and bookkeeper.

In the spring of 2000, she began working as an independent arts and craft designer. As a designer, she authored three books: The Stamped and Stenciled Home, Rockport Publishing; The Weekend Crafter; Stenciling, Lark Books; Floorcloths and Fun Stuff, Grace Publications. During this time, her designs and articles were published in multiple magazines and professional publications. Mrs. Glovier also designed and developed an extensive line of craft and home stencils, marketed by Quilting Creations International, Inc. from 2002 to the present.

Mrs. Glovier recalls that when she first became interested in fine art, there were few opportunities locally to get instruction or find encouragement and support for those looking for enrichment. She feels it is important to be involved in organizations that support artists and art groups in local towns. She supports the mission of the Worcester County Arts Council to “aid, encourage, advise and correlate all activities dedicated to the promotion of the arts in Worcester County, as may be found feasible; to integrate such activities into the total life of the communities served by the council.”

Late in 2006, she transitioned to fine art and began working in watercolors. Mrs. Glovier has since expanded her work to include oil painting and soft pastels. For more than a decade, she has been an art instructor and currently hosts painting classes and weekly open studio sessions for local students and artists. She sells original paintings and reproductions, and she accepts commissioned paintings.
