Work Description:
Oil

Biography:
Art has always been a part of my life. My mother was an artist, as was my grandmother. My education included studio courses at the Corcoran in Washington, D. C., Saint Mary’s College of Maryland where I received a BFA, and Salisbury University, where I’m in pursuit of a master’s degree. I returned to painting with a vengeance after a long hiatus.

Sixteen years ago, I was hired to teach art for Wicomico County Schools which has afforded me the opportunity to share my work with my students. This is what my students have said about my paintings:
“Expressive”
“Bright colors stand out against the dark colors”
“Eerie feeling, mysterious”
“Reflections and textures”
“Nature in endless motion”
“Intimacy with nature”
“Multiple layers, intense patterns”

ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
I love the Shore and its environs. We are so disconnected from nature in our daily lives, but here, on the Eastern Shore, we still can venture into wild places and explore. The wild places are my choice of subject, not still life or people, just places you can only see from a kayak or along a trail.

My artwork has been included in juried shows at the Circle Gallery, Annapolis; Ocean City Art League; Adkins Arboretum, Ridgely, Maryland; and Aurora Gallery, Annapolis.
