Jason Giusti

Glass Sculpture

Biography:
Jason is a graduate of The Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University, Maryland in 2006, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts concentration in Hot Glass. Since graduating, Jason has furthered his knowledge in glassblowing by taking two week long intensive classes at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.

Giusti’s work is a study in color application as well as form. He employs a palette of glass frits and powders to achieve the desired surface presentation. The frits and powders Jason uses are essentially ground up class color that is as fine as powder or in the case of frit it is smaller broken chunks of pure color that are smaller than a penny. His work is an exploration into the effects of layering different colors upon one another to provide depth and a sense of space.

“I feel I always had the desire to create, even as a child I was always drawing or coloring.”

Currently Giusti works as the glass technician assistant at the Hot Glass Studio of Salisbury University, where he helps with classes and general maintenance of the shop as well as having time to create his own work. Work experience also includes being a production assistant at The Studio on 24 in Lewes, DE.

“Watching other glass artists work in the hot shop always inspires me, seeing them work makes me want to create my own work.”

Jason’s has been actively showing his work since 2007 while displaying at local art shows and participating in Salisbury's 3rd Friday events. His work can also be seen at Bishops Stock in Snow Hill, Chesapeake East in Salisbury, and the Art League of Ocean City.
