Phillip Cropper Worcester County Arts Council Board of Directors – Vice President Phillip Cropper was born and raised in Ocean City. He attended Baltimore International College in Baltimore, MD, and studied International Business and Culinary Arts. He has traveled and studied throughout Europe before returning to Ocean City to become the Executive Chef at The Hobbit Restaurant. He was the Chef for 10 years before opening Artful Designs LLC, a special events company and design firm. He has owned and operated his own restaurant, the Palette, in Snow Hill, MD before becoming employed by the Worcester County Board of Education where he teaches Culinary Arts at Worcester Technical High School. In addition, he is a manager for Fager’s Island. Mr. Cropper is a certified executive chef, pastry chef, and culinary educator through the American Culinary Federation. He is also a member of the Ocean City Fire department, and he teaches adult classes at Wor-Wic College.

Mr. Cropper supports local artists and is an avid art collector. He tries to promote art through the medium of food and pastries. He is the Chair of the event “Art of the Party” which raises funds for arts-related scholarships. Mr. Cropper believes that art can be interpreted in so many ways and that everyone can create art in one form or another. He would like for Worcester County to be placed on the map for art in all forms. This area is so rich in culture and beautiful landscapes.

Mr. Cropper likes to be involved in the community. He is currently the President of the Friends of Gwen Lehman Foundation which raised over $45,000.00 for scholarships in Theater and Music Theater majors. He is the President of the Delmarva Chefs and Cooks Association. This organization raises funds for aspiring chefs through scholarships and promotes culinary literacy throughout Delmarva. Mr. Cropper is active in his church and serves on the church council. Mr. Cropper serves on the Worcester County Arts Council Board of Directors for the second time. Previously, he was Vice Chairman for three years.
