Rudelle Hall
Work Description:
Mixed Media
Biography:
Rudelle, is a self-taught artist, and signs all of her work with her first name only. She didn't even have art offered as a subject in High School. Her first love was oil painting, and then photography. Over 30 years ago she started doing Polaroid Manipulation, which she then termed, "Photo Etching". All of her photo etchings were done on location in various parts of the world. She uses them to create new works of art by enlarging and enhancing them by adding to, and/or painting out areas with acrylic paint, and medium. The Nineteen Eighties brought a new medium and art tool for Rudelle. She discovered the computer paint program, and soon bought other photo manipulating programs with which to further her ability for creativity.
She enjoys manipulating digital photos, which she prints out on professional watercolor paper using archival pigment ink, and then enhancing them using acrylic paint and medium, as well as creating abstract works from scratch.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
I draw and paint with the cursor, using flowers from my own digital photographs, which provide wonderful color from the brilliance of nature. They are pushed, pulled, twisted and stretched into unusual shapes. I start with a movement then let the feeling spontaneously guide me. What I see dictates the next direction of movement. Some have subtle images formed within, for the viewer to delightfully find, as you would while searching for familiar images in cloud formations.
I have been artistic since childhood, and the thought of being an artist teased, and sometime tormented me. When I first started showing my art in public the love affair became a passion, and I’ve been on Fast Forward ever since. I’m finally the real me. Creating art delights, excites, and sometime surprises me. I have been creating art, and it has been creating me.
